I have always loved to dance. Dance is how I learned to believe that you can succeed in just about anything if you set your mind to it and work hard. It began when I was in 2nd grade I went on a field trip to see the second act of The Nutcracker. I had never been to a ballet performance before I had no idea what to expect. As soon as the curtain went up and I saw Clara and I fell in love. I decided that I wanted to one day play the role of Clara in the Nutcracker. I asked my Mom if I could be a dancer. She signed me up a month later and I loved it. Every year I did the winter Nutcracker performance, I started out in battle scene and then moved to party scene and then the best friend. Seven years later I am still dancing. It’s my eighth grade year and I longed to be Clara. By this time some of my friends had played the role of Clara in the last few years and moved on to snow core. I knew it was my final chance, I had watched Clara’s part in full cast rehearsals and learned the role by heart. About two weeks after auditions, I got a phone call from my Mom. She had seen the casting and told me that I had gotten the role of Clara. I was super excited to start rehearsals. I woke up earlier than usual on Saturday because I had waited for this day ever since I first glanced at the cast list. As rehearsals began, I had got more excited to perform. Now with the performance right around the corner I cannot wait for this years performance and see what will come next year. Dance has taught me that I can succeed in just about anything and if I work hard and set my mind to it, my dream will come true.
